Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs, dethrone them from top spot

Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday maintained their supremacy over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and defeated the MS Dhoni-led team by 32 runs. This was second time in TATA IPL 2023, that Chennai Super Kings failed to touch the fortress of Rajasthan Royals.

Yashasvi Jaiswal exhibited his skill once more by scoring an impressive 77. Following this, Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal added the finishing touches to help Rajasthan Royals achieve a competitive total of 202 for five against Chennai Super Kings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his impressive form and quickly reached his fifty in just 26 deliveries. Jos Buttler also joined in the fun and hit a few boundaries, with the two combining to build an 86-run opening partnership. However, Ravindra Jadeja eventually dismissed Buttler after his slow knock of 27 runs, claiming one wicket for 32 runs.

After taking a wicket, the Chennai Super Kings’ bowlers were successful in limiting the number of boundaries scored by the opposition team, which led to a brief decline in the batting performance of the RR batters. This resulted in a mini batting collapse, orchestrated by the CSK bowlers.

RR bowlers put pressure on CSK batters, resulting in Conway being caught by Sandeep Sharma. CSK was 42/1 at the end of the powerplay. Gaikwad was dismissed by Zampa for 47 off 29 balls, and CSK was 69/2 in 9.2 overs. CSK lost Rahane, Rayadu, and Moeen quickly, but Shivam and Jadeja built a partnership.

Shivam scored his fifty in 29 balls, and CSK needed 37 runs in the final over. However, they ended up with 170/6 in their 20 overs, with Jadeja unbeaten on 23*.
